Traditional Fortune 500 companies, as well as technologically diverse and progressive small business continue to succeed in Southeast Michigan because of the quality of the workforce and they know that their cost per unit can compete against countries with low wage labor. By investing in new technology, such as robotic automation, and implementing efficiency processes, such as lean manufacturing, Southeast Michigan is rapidly becoming a high-technology powerhouse, while also maintaining its traditional manufacturing industry.
With a membership of more than 680 organizations, representing eight counties around Detroit, Automation Alley drives the growth and image of Southeast Michigan's technology economy through a collaborative culture that focuses on workforce and business development initiatives. The Alley offers seminars, networking events, quarterly newsletters, and annual reports that describe the success of Michigan's technology focused economy. Automation Alley is also responsible for a national marketing campaign to attract high-tech talent to the area, while the International Business Center conducts attraction activities that has raised international awareness and attraction to the area.
