Finishing Today has joined the Save Your Factory initiative, to provide North American manufacturers with resources to fully and objectively analyze the total cost of offshoring versus investing in robotic automation and implementing lean manufacturing practices.
For nearly 80 years, Finishing Today, formerly known as Industrial Paint & Powder magazine, has been providing the manufacturing industry information on all aspects of industrial finishing, including plating, polishing, anodizing, e-coating, and UV and infrared curing, as well as waterborne and conventional liquid and powder coatings. Finishing Today specializes beyond paint and powder to include the latest technologies, products and viewpoints of industry leaders faced with the challenges in the finishing industry.
Save Your Factory is a new initiative sponsored by 15 companies, including FANUC Robotics, American Machinist, The Great Lakes Manufacturing Council, Lincoln Electric, and Automation Alley to name a few. These companies are dedicated in the economic viability of North American manufacturing.
Many companies have been tempted into moving to low wage labor countries in the hope of increasing profits. Unfortunately, these companies do not understand the total cost of offshoring before moving manufacturing operations overseas. A growing number of these companies are moving back to North America because the estimated cost savings of moving to China were never realized.
