Kaizen Strategies

Kaizen is a process used by some companies to reduce unnecessary work and excess waste at all levels of the company and throughout the production process. (Waste can be defined as anything in the production process that does not add value to the end product.) It is a process of continued evaluation and constant improvement in order to stay competitive.

Companies are implementing kaizen strategies in an effort to increase efficiency, improve end product quality and, ultimately, increase profits.
Waste can occur in many different forms, and can range from too much inventory, faulty equipment or even inefficient factory design.
Kaizen not only works to improve the efficiency of a company, but it also can help to make a work environment more pleasurable.

The concept of kaizen began within the Japanese automotive industry in the 1950s. It has since been adapted by companies of various backgrounds. Companies are always searching for ways to reduce production costs while not compromising the quality of the end product. Lean Manufacturing also focuses on reducing waste to reduce overhead costs and increase efficiency throughout the production process.

Save Your Factory, by FANUC Robotics, the world’s leading supplier of industrial robots, tries to educate manufacturers on lean manufacturing and efficient means to save money and increase profit. This is an effort to deter manufacturers from thinking that outsourcing is the only cost-effective means of production. Click here fore more information.
